I. Purpose

Information technology is utilized to support the mission and operation of the University of Central Missouri. UCM relies on information technology to perform daily operations vital to achieving the university’s mission. These responsibilities include providing data and information for a variety of national, regional, state and local organizations. As such, it is imperative that all university constituents recognize and use official University of Central Missouri data when preparing reports, grants, papers and other documents that will be viewed and utilized by on or off campus entities.

II. Procedure

The University of Central Missouri hereby establishes the data to be contained within the Banner System, and its approved subsystems, as the university’s official data. Data maintained outside of the Banner System will not be considered official and cannot be communicated as such. It is incumbent on departments to ensure that the data, for which they are responsible, is accurately entered into the Banner System in a timely manner. Also, all reporting presented by departments, whether on or off campus must reflect the data in the Banner System.

III. Development

The Offices of Information Services and Institutional Effectiveness will work with the university community to identify and define the data elements to be contained within the Banner System. These offices will use this information to develop a reporting system that will meet locally defined information requirements. In addition, a second reporting system will be developed to allow individual units to access centrally housed data and create their own idiosyncratic reports.
