The University of Central Missouri strives to maintain the university community as an orderly place, conducive to work, study and leisure for all those involved in the business of the university and free from personal violence.

Actions to create a climate of fear or intimidation will not be tolerated at the University of Central Missouri. Threats or implied threats, physical intimidation or any form of violent behavior will result in appropriate action by the university. Administrative disciplinary, student judicial, civil and/or criminal penalties will be pursued as appropriate. It is the responsibility of every member of the campus community to take any threat or violent act seriously, to consult with appropriate individuals, and to take action as prescribed in the university鈥檚 procedures.

All threats or acts of aggressive violent behavior at UCM are taken seriously and addressed immediately. Such threats or acts include, but are not limited to:

1. harming or threatening to harm any member or guest of the university
   
   
2. aggressive or hostile behavior that creates a reasonable fear of injury to another person or subjects another individual to emotional distress
   
   
3. damaging or threatening to damage university property or the property of any member or guest of the university
   
   
4. possessing a dangerous weapon or incendiary device on university property without prior authorization and compliance with university procedures
   
   
5. stalking any member or guest of the university (stalking is defined in Section 565.225. RSMo). 

Acts of violence or threats of imminent violence require an immediate response 鈥� dial the Department of Public Safety at 911. Potential imminent threats of violence must be reported immediately to a member of the Threat Management Team (TMT). Reports can be made anonymously and all reported incidents will be investigated. Reports or incidents warranting confidentiality will be handled appropriately and information will be disclosed to others only on a need-to-know basis. All parties involved in a situation will be counseled and the results of investigations will be discussed with them.

The Threat Management Team has been designated by the President. Core Threat Management Team members are as follows:

• Human Resources- Director, Human Resources
• Student Experience & Engagement- Associate Vice Provost, Student Services/Title IX Coordinator
• UCM Public Safety- Director, Public Safety
• UCM Counseling Center- Director, Counseling Center
• University Relations- Assistant Director, Media Relations

The TMT member who is contacted will activate the team. The TMT will, at the request of any TMT member who has been contacted regarding a potentially violent situation, consult with appropriate persons on the crisis at hand and serve as a communication link between/among individuals and offices by communicating relevant information on a 鈥渘eed-to-know鈥� basis.

The TMT will make recommendations to the president or designee on the appropriate response or action that should be taken. The TMT is authorized to commit whatever university assets and personnel that are necessary to resolve the incident.

The TMT may involve various individuals when dealing with an immediate or potential event. These individuals may include but are not limited to the following areas:

• President's Office
• General Counsel
• UCM Facilities
• A representative from the Warrensburg Police Department
