The McClure Archives and University Museum is UCM's official repository for ethnographic, historic, and textile artifacts from around the world, as well as the official repository of UCM and its history. The McClure offers up to six exhibitions a year, as well as numerous lectures, public programs, and educational programming for schools and community groups.
Whether you are researching your family tree, studying the textiles of the Middle East, or are fascinated by seashells, the McClure is here to give you a world-class museum experience here in mid-Missouri. In addition to a general collection that ranges from prehistoric archaeological specimens to modern artworks, the McClure is best known for five collections: the Nance Middle East Collection, the Haymaker Guatemalan Collection, the Rohmiller Shell Collection, the Schmidt MesoAmerican Collection, and the McClure 20th Century American History Collection.
The McClure Archives and University Museum is an official Blue Star Museum and partner site of the Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area. In addition, the McClure is designated by the Department of Defense as an official Vietnam War Commemorative Partner, and by the U.S. Department of the Army as an official World War II 50th Anniversary Commemorative Site.
Amber R. Clifford-Napoleone is the Director of the McClure, and a Professor of Anthropology. With over 20 years of experience in curation and collections management, Dr. Clifford-Napoleone works to preserve the McClure’s collections for future generations. Her specializations are ethnographic textiles, textile conservation, and material culture science.
