Research Areas: Cybersecurity, Network Traffic Fingerprinting, Machine Learning and Evolutionary Computing
Dr. Aksoy received his Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2019. Dr. Aksoy is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Cybersecurity at the University of Central Missouri.
Dr. Aksoy's research interests span the areas of Cybersecurity (including Network Security, Anomaly Detection and Intrusion Detection), Network Traffic Fingerprinting (including Operating System Identification, IoT Device Classification and User Fingerprinting), Machine Learning (including Inductive learning and Rule-based Classifiers) and Evolutionary Computing (including Genetic Algorithms). He is specifically interested in performing network traffic fingerprinting (i.e., Operating System Identification, IoT Device Classification and User Fingerprinting). Dr. Aksoy is a GIAC certified Network Forensic Analyst (GNFA).
