Dr. Starlynn Nance is an Associate Professor at the University of Central Missouri. Her work focus is pre-service teachers, citizenship education and field experiences of social studies education majors. She received her B.A. in Social Studies Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma. She taught social studies and Advanced Placement for nine years and was a junior high and high school counselor for four years. Before becoming the Social Studies Coordinator at UCM, she was an Assistant Professor and Director of the Middles School Program at Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts. She has published book reviews and book chapters and presented in national webinars, national conferences, regional conferences and local professional development. She has been awarded the New Faculty Award, the UCM Outstanding Advisor Award and the MACADA Missouri State Outstanding Advisor Award.
