Personal Care Assistant Development Program

A nursing aide with a patient

Prepare for a career in fast-growing healthcare field

Enroll today in the University of Central Missouri's Personal Care Assistant Development certificate program and begin a career in the healthcare field. The demand for personal care assistants is growing rapidly as health-care costs rise and our population ages. Personal care assistants are responsible for helping people who are sick, injured, mentally or physically disabled or elderly. They work in the home and assist with daily activities such as bathing, feeding, grooming, cooking and some housework. In addition, personal care assistants help clients with doctor appointments, provide or make arrangements for transportation, prepare and serve meals, ensure medication is taken properly and serve as companions for their clients. Through this program, students earn an industry-recognized certificate and continuing education units which may not be applied to a degree program and are not eligible for federal financial aid.
