Admissions into the Master of Science in Aviation Safety program is made on a holistic basis, two-step process. Students apply online through the UCM website; and all documents/materials are submitted to the Graduate Studies office, as per the instructions. After an initial evaluation, the application files that meet the admission requirements for graduate studies are forwarded to the Department of Aviation. The department will then review the application and make an admission determination.
In addition to the university’s basic graduate admission requirements, the following are additional requirements for acceptance into the MS Aviation Safety program:

The Master of Science in Aviation Safety is offered 100% online, making it easy for international students to complete the degree from the convenience of their home country. International students will not qualify for a student visa. Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s degree programs in the UCM Department of Aviation provide current undergraduate aviation students the opportunity to substitute graduate courses for required or elective courses in their undergraduate program and then subsequently count those same courses for graduate credit in the MS Aviation Safety program.
Upon admission into the graduate program, students can enroll in graduate courses only after their junior year (90 earned hours). Up to 12 hours of graduate coursework may be taken during the student’s senior year and counted to meet both the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree requirements. Students complete the remaining graduate coursework in their fifth year. Students may not enroll in additional graduate courses until their undergraduate degree is completed.
Accelerated MS students may be eligible to include the following courses as overlap between the undergraduate and graduate programs. They would be taken at the Graduate level (5XXX):
Admission into the Accelerated BS/MS program requires a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 2.70 or higher. Visit the Department of Aviation’s Graduate Coordinator to find out how to take advantage of this opportunity.

In addition to the scholoraship opportunities available, a limited number of competitive Graduate Assistantship positions are available for both teaching and research positions for students enrolled in courses on campus. These positions provide opportunities for professional development in addition to a stipend to help cover the costs of your graduate education.
Networking:
GAs in the Department of Aviation get a backstage pass to all activities, trips, conferences,
and visitors hosted and attended by faculty within the School. These opportunities
help you network with professional organizations and meet influential people while
building your resume.
Duties:
Research GA: The main duty of a research GA is to assist Aviation faculty with their
research. GAs are the first students to be introduced to opportunities to get involved
in current aviation networking and outreach projects. Working with your professors
can open doors for your career and make you competitive in the job market.
Teaching GA: The main duty of a teaching GA is to assist Aviation faculty with a specific lower level undergraduate aviation course. GAs are involved with day to day activities including facilitating discussion sessions and in-class activities.
